Extracting Execution Plans

You’ve heard of these wonderful things called execution plans, but how exactly can you get them? Running queries from Management Studio on a production server’s not really practical. In this session we’ll look at a variety of ways for getting execution plans from SQL, from T-SQL scripts to Profiler. We’ll also look at the downsides of the various methods and what exactly each will get back for you.

About the Speaker:

Gail Shaw is a database consultant from Johannesburg, South Africa, specializing in performance tuning and database optimization. Before moving to consulting, she worked at a large South African investment bank and was responsible for the performance of the company's major systems.
