Windows PowerShell is rapidly becoming the go-to scripting choice of System Administrators but what does that mean for SQL Server DBAs? Microsoft MVP Aaron Nelson will discuss what PowerShell is and demonstrate how and why DBAs should use it. He will walk you through the basics of Windows PowerShell and provide you with some commonly used first scripts to help you get started. He’ll also cover some basic troubleshooting techniques and introduce you to new and exciting ways to use Windows PowerShell in your production environment.
About the Speaker:
Aaron Nelson is a Senior SQL Server Architect with over 10 years of experience in Architecture, Business Intelligence, Development, and Performance Tuning of SQL Server. He has experience managing enterprise-wide data needs in both transactional and data warehouse environments. Aaron holds certifications for MCITP: Business Intelligence Developer, Database Administrator, Database Developer; as well as MCTS: Windows Server Virtualization, Configuration (meaning Hyper-V).
Aaron helps run the AppDev and PowerShell Virtual Chapters of PASS and volunteers for the local PASS Chapter AtlantaMDF. He also co-runs the Atlanta PowerShell User Group and helps organize SQLSaturday events in Atlanta.
