SQL Server 2008 R2 Community Launch Opens PASS European Conference in Neuss, Germany--24 Hours of PASS and Local Community Events to Follow
NEUSS, Germany – April 21, 2010 – From today’s start of PASS European Conference and SQL Server 2008 R2 Launch Day, to hands-on labs and industry-leading live training delivered directly to your desktop, the Professional Association for SQL Server (PASS) is rolling out a global slate of in-depth educational opportunities to help SQL Server and Business Intelligence professionals take full advantage of the new Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2.
With 512 people registered for this year’s PASS European Conference and the SQL Server 2008 R2 Launch Day, the overall event stands as our largest European PASS gathering ever. And despite a little volcanic activity disrupting some speakers’ and attendees’ travel plans, the conference is proceeding as planned, opening with a Welcome reception at 6:30pm. Two full days of SQL Server and BI sessions, with a special SQL Server 2008 R2 track, will follow. A host of experts – Microsoft’s SQL Server Customer Advisory Team (SQLCAT), Customer Service and Support (CSS), and MVPs – will also be available to answer attendees’ questions.
Microsoft kicked off its community launch tour for SQL Server 2008 R2 with a full-day pre-conference launch seminar at PASS European Conference today. Donald Farmer, one of the best-known thinkers on the Microsoft Business Intelligence team, introduced Microsoft's new self-service BI platform, with Steffen Krause of Microsoft Germany digging into the release’s new Multi-Server Management capabilities.
