PASS Summit 2011 Opens with Record 5000+ Registrations

Day 1 Features Live Streaming Keynote by Top Microsoft SQL Server Exec Ted Kummert

SEATTLE, WA – October  11, 2011 – The Professional Association for SQL Server (PASS) kicks off its annual PASS Summit today at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center in Seattle with a record 5,108 registrations and a live streaming keynote to SQL Server professionals around the world by senior Microsoft SQL Server executive Ted Kummert.

As of last night, PASS Summit 2011 had 3,492 delegates – up 22% from last year’s previous record attendance – and 1,616 pre-conference attendees across 52 countries for a total of 5,108 registrations.

“This year’s amazing turnout for PASS Summit is a testament to our incredible community volunteers and staff, who asked the SQL Server community what they wanted to see at the conference and worked hard to put together a phenomenal lineup of sessions, speakers, and special events in response,” said PASS President Rushabh Mehta. “Our community’s desire to connect, learn, and share with each other around the world is inspiring – and it continues to grow.”

PASS Summit, organized by SQL Server users for SQL Server users, is the largest SQL Server event in the world, delivering more than 170 technical sessions, 14 full-day pre-conference seminars, and unmatched networking opportunities with the industry’s top SQL Server and Business Intelligence experts.
Microsoft is committing its top resources to the week-long event, including three executive keynotes– all of which will be streamed live to community members around the globe along with the conference’s popular Women in Technology panel.

Hundreds of Microsoft experts will be on hand in sessions, the CSS and SQLCAT SQL Server Clinic, Expert Pods, Hands-On Labs, and the Expo Hall to share best practices, explain the latest solutions, and answer customer questions to help attendees get the most out of their SQL Server and BI investments—and their time at PASS Summit. Attendees will also get a sneak-peek at Microsoft’s SQL Server and BI product roadmaps.

In today’s opening keynote, Kummert – Senior Vice President, Business Platform Division – will look at how Microsoft is answering the challenges of managing data and turning information into business insights, with demos that highlight continued innovation in Microsoft’s information platform and more about the upcoming launch of SQL Server Code Named “Denali.”

PASS Summit 2011 runs through Friday, October 14. For more information and the latest updates from PASS Summit 2011, see http://www.sqlpass.org/summit/2011.

PASS Continues SQLRally Momentum with Nordic Event

World-Class Regional SQL Server Training Goes Global

Friday, May 13, 2011—Orlando, F
L—Fresh off the success of its inaugural PASS SQLRally 2011 event in Orlando this week, the Professional Association for SQL Server is taking its new regional technical training model global, with the announcement of PASS SQLRally Nordic 2011, Nov. 8-9, in Aronsborg, Sweden.

“PASS SQLRally regional events—organized and produced by local user-group chapters and dedicated volunteers—are designed to provide affordable, high-quality technical training and networking opportunities for Microsoft SQL Server professionals around the world,” said PASS President Rushabh Mehta. “With nearly 450 people taking advantage of our first SQLRally in Orlando, we’re excited to pass the torch to our Nordic members.”

Hundreds of IT professionals are expected to sharpen their SQL Server and business intelligence (BI) skills during PASS SQLRally Nordic’s 2 days of technical sessions across BI, DBA, and Developer tracks. “We are extremely pleased to be able to present such internationally known experts as Microsoft Corp.’s Mark Souza, Thomas Kejser, Stuart Ozer, Lubor Kollar, and Cihan Biyikoglu,” said SQL Server MVP and event co-founder Raoul Illyés, noting that regional professionals are invited to submit session abstracts until July 31. Attendees can save 150 euros during early-bird registration, which opened today with the launch of the event website: http://www.sqlpass.org/sqlrally/2011/nordic/.

PASS’s new SQLRally regional events fill the gap between its free 1-day PASS SQLSaturday training events and the annual PASS Summit, the world's largest conference for the SQL Server community.

“PASS SQLRally brings database professionals together with industry experts in an intimate, casual learning environment that really encourages deep knowledge-sharing and networking,” noted Mark Souza, who heads up the Microsoft SQL Server Customer Advisory Team (SQLCAT) and represents Microsoft on the PASS Board of Directors.

“PASS SQLRally Nordic is for professionals at all levels of expertise who want to learn best practices and troubleshooting tips for SQL Server, the Microsoft BI stack, and SQL Azure,” added SQLRally Nordic co-founder Johan Åhlén, chairman of the Swedish SQL Server User Group PASS chapter. “If you want to get the most from SQL Server, you don’t want to miss this event.”

Microsoft is co-organizer of PASS SQLRally Nordic. HP is Presenting Sponsor of the event, with Cornerstone, Quest Software, Red Gate Software, and SQL Service joining as early event sponsors. For a sponsorship prospectus, contact Nordic_sponsors@sqlrally.com.
