The SQL Server Standard is the flagship publication of PASS. It was produced in print from 2003 to 2008 and all the available back issues are posted in the magazine archive for your viewing. In November 2008 we made the tough decision to stop distributing it in print. In late 2009, we re-launched the SQL Server Standard in PDF form. Unfortunately, we have again suspended publication, but all this premium content remains available below (log in to view).

SQL Server Standard articles are peer-reviewed compositions of the highest quality, written by a professional with 5+ years experience in the subject area. Members wishing to submit an abstract had to meet the following criteria:

  • Have 5 years professional experience as a developer, DBA, report writer, database developer, or some other technical or functional area
  • Have been published formally as a writer (excludes blogs) on any of the SQL community sites (content was reviewed as part of the abstract acceptance process) or have written a book that has gone through a technical/copy review process
  • Be a member of the Professional Association of SQL Server and have a profile on PASSPort

While the Standard is no longer in production, there are still a number of ways to contribute technical content to sqlpass.org. For more information, click here.

Email Distribution It's great to see the magazine up and running, especially in PDF form, which means I can read it on my Kindle! Just a suggestion - it would be nice if there were an email distribution method for the newsletter. I find it hard to take the time to navigate to the web site and find and download the file. But if it showed up in my inbox on a regular basis, I will be much more inclined to give it my attention. Thanks again. Jerry Submitted By: Jerry Foster
