PASS Summit Highlights
PASS Summit 2010 drew 2,858 delegates and 1004
pre/post-conference attendees for a total of 3,862 registrations - the largest turnout
since the inception of the conference and a 26% increase
in attendance over 2009.
For the first time in its history, PASS streamed the daily keynotes, thanks to our
sponsor Dell, live from Seattle with thousands tuning in to watch the centre stage
program. View them now:

Wendy Pastrick, Lori Edwards Win PASS Honors
There are so many incredible people who give so much of their time, energy,
knowledge and passion to PASS and the SQL Server community.
We’d like to recognize two special volunteers that went above and beyond this year:
the 2010 Outstanding Volunteer and the 2010 PASSion Award Winner.
Lori Edwards, our Outstanding Volunteer was instrumental in organizing the nearly
200 technical sessions for this year's Summit.
Our 2010 PASSion Award winner,
Wendy Pastrick, shares a wealth of knowledge through speaking, founding and organizing
events, virtual chapters, user groups, and helps others to learn from her experience,
including as a PASS Regional Mentor. Congratulations Wendy and Lori.

Database Security Survey Now Available
PASS has released its 2010 Database Security report, “Data in the Dark: Organizational
Disconnect Hampers Information Security”. Members were polled in September and given
the opportunity to share insight on their organizations’ security practices and
level of preparedness for database security breaches.
Study statistics reveal that companies’ data security is hampered by disconnect
within the organization. Approximately 75% of respondents, the majority of whom
are database administrators, are responsible for protecting their organization’s
database. Nearly half of the study’s respondents said that a database breach would
have greater impact on organizational security than any other IT component.
“This study is the first of many new survey analyses we hope to bring to the PASS
community,” said Rushabh Mehta, PASS President.

Board of Director Changes
Our one outgoing member, Lynda Rab, has volunteered with PASS since 2001, was the
2005 PASSion Award winner, and has been a Director on the Board since 2007. Lynda
has been instrumental in working with our special interest groups, now called Virtual
Chapters, and she helped PASS Summit grow from 96 sessions to 168 sessions. We thank
Lynda for her tremendous contributions.
Returning to the Board are Andy Warren and Douglas McDowell, and joining the Board
is Allen Kinsel, the 2009 PASSion Award winner. Congratulations.
