Community
Welcome to the PASS Community. We are a group of SQL Server users, database administrators, business intelligence experts and application developers from all over the world. Our community is represented by more than 130 chapters world-wide, and although we hail from many different cultures, we all speak one common language when it comes to sharing and discussing everything about Microsoft SQL Server.
This community is unique in that members can choose to belong to a Chapter that meets face-to-face in a specific region, or to subscribe one of our 10 Virtual Chapters (VCs), which meet virtually all around the world. Members of PASS have specific interests in application development, business intelligence, and database administration. Being technology-savvy, our community pays particular attention to communication through online forums and blogs.
PASS maintains a blog directory to help you find SQL bloggers and vice versa. We currently have a list of more than 200 blogs. Add one to your reader, or grab our OPML file and add them all!
The official PASS blog, authored by several members of PASS HQ and the PASS Board, this is one way to keep up with what's new with PASS.
Think of our Virtual Chapters as an online user group where members join based on topic rather than geographic location. Whether you participate in your local chapter or not, VCs provide another way of both learning and connecting.
Our PASSPort is your ticket to staying connnected with others in the SQL Server community. It only takes a few minutes to set up a basic profile and then when you connect with someone, send them an invitation so you stay connected!
Volunteers are what make PASS run. From updating the blog directory to helping build the annual Summit schedule to helping out at local chapters, volunteers do the vital work of our association. If you're interested in participating, we'll try to find a task that matches your skills and interests.
We've compiled a list of all the major SQL Server communities on the web. Here at PASS we focus on career, professional development, and more, but you'll most likely find that you'll want to join at least one other web community as well. Look the list over and try them out.
If you're serious about networking then you should join us on LinkedIn. It's a free service and only takes a few minutes to set up, and it's another way to find, connect, and reconnect with people you meet throughout your career. We have our own PASS group set up, and we hope you'll join it as another way of participating.
You've heard of Facebook and just in case you want to mix some fun in with the serious work of being a SQL professional, we also host a group page on there. It's another way to find out about the latest news from PASS, but it's also a way to enjoy the "social" side of networking with other SQL professionals
Yes, we're on Twitter, too! Join in the fun and meet others from PASS. Use the tag #sqlpass for posting and searching.
If you've reached the point where you would like to participate as a speaker at the chapter, regional, or national level, you'll find this set of resources from our Chapter committee very helpful. We also have a page of speaker resources that focuses just on our annual Summit.
