About the Speaker

Bob Ward
Principal Architect Escalation Engineer, Microsoft CSS

Bob Ward is a principal architect escalation engineer with Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS), and has been presenting at PASS Summit since 2003. He has worked at Microsoft since 1993 and has now supported every release of SQL Server from 1.1 for OS/2 to 2008 R2. Bob’s background in the computer industry spans 25 years, including database development projects with companies such as General Dynamics, Harris Hospital, and American Airlines. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Baylor University in 1986. Bob co-authored “SQL Server 2005 Practical Troubleshooting: The Database Engine,” including chapters on advanced data recovery and troubleshooting critical errors. He now writes and directs one of the most popular blog sites for SQL Server advanced users at http://blogs.msdn.com/psssql.
