Pragmatic Works Launches DOC xPress at PASS Summit 2013

CHARLOTTE, NC — October 16, 2013 — Pragmatic Works today announced the launch of DOC xPress v.1.7 at PASS Summit 2013. DOC xPress is the latest in a line of robust offerings from Pragmatic Works built to enhance the SQL Server® platform.

PASS Summit 2013 attendees will be able to see first-hand DOC xPress’ newest features including Snapshot Management, which provides users with an easy way to keep track and maintain snapshots of their environments, and Snapshot Comparison, which allows users to easily track differences in their environments and determine what has changed over time. These are just a few of the multiple features available in the latest version of DOC xPress.

“DOC xPress’ new features are designed to address one of the biggest obstacles faced in data environments today - tracing the source of data within a system and trying to assess how a change to one part of the environment will impact other parts,” says John Welch, Vice President of Software Development at Pragmatic Works, says: “Pragmatic Works’ software tool DOC xPress has pioneered a pair of features called Object Lineage and Impact Analysis that enable users to both quickly view and explore the dependencies in their environment. They can also use it to trace the lineage of data elements from their original source to their destination, following it through multiple databases, SSIS packages, SSAS cubes, and SSRS reports.”

“I highly recommend DOC xPress as the premier documentation and lineage / impact analysis tool for your SQL Server components,” states John Dempsey, Senior Database Developer at TD Ameritrade. “Not only does it document my SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS objects, it also lets me trace the lineage of data elements through my environment, and determine the impact of modifications before I make them. This is a great benefit. DOC xPress is an everyday tool for me.”

DOC xPress is part of the Pragmatic Workbench, a complete suite of products designed to provide users with essential usability features to augment native SQL Server®.  The introduction of Doc xPress furthers Pragmatic Works’ commitment to providing first-rate tools to the SQL Server community. DOC xPress provides the following benefits to the SQL Server® community:

  • Document your database, SSAS cubes, SSIS packages and SSRS reports
  • Gives users the option of exporting their documentation in RTF, DOCX, HTML, HTML Frameset and CHM formats
  • Track where your data came from and its respective impact
