Thomas Grohser (=tg=)

With the new SQL Server 2008 release, up to 256 CPU cores are possible. ITANIUM IA64, the high end CPU from Intel --what's the difference to the x64 platform? When does it make sense to use it and when not? What can be expected, what's a myth and what is reality? And is there still a  place for the x86 - 32 bit platform?. This session will also give you some insight on how memory is accessed and explain what NUMA is and why it is a good thing.

Based on several years of experience in a mixed SQL Server environment (IA64, x64 and x86), find out who the real winner is going to be (surprises not excluded).
